As a travel agent, you know here at Gateway Travel we want to ensure you have great tools to help you! There are SO many resources at your disposal we wanted to focus in on five apps we feel could benefit you and your travel business.
So let's dive in!
Waveapps
First up, let's look at a free option for tracking your business expenses and budget, waveapps. Now, it is best to keep your business income separate from your personal checking account. If you can open a separate business checking or savings that is preferred. A great free tool to help you monitor your business income and spending is waveapps. You can sign up for free and use their intuitive app to create great reports for your accountant come tax season!
Expensify
To go along with waveapps we also recommend checking out Expensify. There are many tax deductions you will want to ensure you are taking advantage of throughout the year. More importantly, make sure you are tracking these deductions effectively. Expensify allows you to scan receipts, designate purchases, and also track mileage.
Skype
We know...you probably have heard of this gem but it is a classic conference option worth mentioning. Maybe you have a group cruise or large family cruise you are organizing - Skype can be a great platform to have a pre-cruise meeting ensuring all your clients are confident with the onboarding process. With the ability to screen share you can even walk your clients through the check-in process from the comfort of your own home.
Evernote
Now, we all know as a travel agent you have many sticks in the fire at any given time. Between emails, phone calls, payments to be made, itineraries to create, and fastpasses to schedule there are many things to keep track of and share with your clients. We love Evernote because you can create notebooks that house several related notes. What makes this wonderful for the travel agent is you can share your notebooks with others.
Let's say you have an upcoming family heading to Disney you can create a notebook in Evernote and share the notebook with them. When they enter the notebook they can view any notes you have set up for them including their itinerary, fastpasses, dining reservations, and of course your travel agent tips to top it all off. You will be able to see and manage all your notebooks but your clients will only be able to access the notebooks you invite them to.
Wunderlist
To go along with that endless to-do list we were referencing above we think you will also enjoy Wunderlist. We highly recommend reading our post on block scheduling and the way you can categorize your to-do list during the day for optimal efficiency. This app is also free to use and syncs wonderfully between devices.
